I-58 Navs - Under-resourced Communities
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” (Isaiah 58:11-12 NIV)
I-58 Navs desires to engage in whole-life discipleship in under-resourced communities. I-58 Navs derives its name from Isaiah 58. True fasting in this chapter is defined by giving of yourself to those in need. We want to help these people overcome the consequences of poverty, injustice, and oppression.
We engage with immigrant populations, provide after school programs for at-risk youth, run businesses with former gang members and ex-offenders, and lead bible studies with the homeless. The key to gaining trust within these communities is through a holistic approach to ministry, taking interest in every part of their lives to impact their hearts as well as their lifestyles with the grace of God. Through life-on-life relationships, we aspire to produce spiritual generations of laborers from within the community.
